I am a traditional quilter at heart. I love traditional blocks and hand quilting best. But some days I am in a mood to take that love to a different level. When I do, a quilt like “Sing a Happy Song” emerges.
“Sing a Happy Song” is composed of 4 different traditional blocks in a black, white and yellow color scheme. Each block contains a musical motif. To add a modern flair to the traditional blocks and to add interest to the design, I offset the traditional blocks with African green kente fabric. An African border in yellow and black completes the quilt making it measure 54 x 65 inches. My friend Maxine Moore quilted it on her long arm quilting machine.
The back of the quilt is a yellow, green and black striped African fabric. I added a hanging sleeve for easy display, and a label documents the quilt.
This quilt is one-of-a-kind. I signed it on the front. This quilt makes me happy. I hope you like it.
