“The Hope of Africa” is the 6th quilt in what has turned into my “About Africa” series. First I made “The Joys of Africa”. I liked it so much I made “The Beauty of Africa, “The Drum Beat of Africa”, “The Adventures of Africa”, “The Romance of Africa” and now the Hope of Africa. I have so much African fabric, I may never stop!
Like the other quilts in the series, “The Hope of Africa” is a quilted wallhanging composed of a wide variety of African fabrics. It gets its name from the word “Hope” appliquéd on one of the blocks and the blue and yellow border. It measures 39 x 44 inches.
I pieced it on my Janome sewing machine, and Maxine Moore machine quilted it.
The back of the quilt features a blue floral fabric. There is a hanging sleeve on the back for easy display and a label that documents the quilt. After the quilt was bound and labeled, I signed it on the front.
This quilt is one-of-a-kind.
