Follow Your Kind Star hand quilted red and white art quilt

“Follow Your Kind Star” follows in the tradition of the friendship star quilts that danced in the ceiling of my solo exhibit “Long Time Coming: A Retrospective of O.V. Brantley’s Red and White Quilts.” The focus of the quilt is a single white friendship star block on a red background and bordered with white fabric.

The simple 21 X 25 inch design is given depth and dimension by chicken scratch hand quilting yo-go’s, buttons and a charm. The word kind is appliquéd on the center star of the quilt.

The back of the quilt is a red and white heart motif. There is a hanging sleeve for easy display and a label that documents the quilt.

This quilt is one-of-a-kind although it is part of a series. I signed it on the front and attached a charm that says “Be Kind”.
