Be Joyfully Authentic, African Art Quilt

There is just something about African fabrics that immediately evokes joy. The fabrics are wild and colorful. No matter how you compose them, they turn into something happy and beautiful.

My quilt “Be Joyfully Authentic” was born from a stack of fat quarters purchased at a quilt show. They seemed perfect for a pattern that was not concerned with matching seams or points. I chose the “Turning Twenty Again” pattern to display these joyful fabrics. The placement is random. Who knows what it will look like before it is finished, but in the end you know it will be beautiful.

“Be Joyfully Authentic” is part of my “Be series”. In each quilt in this series I try to give clues for living an abundant life. Joy and authenticity are always at the top of my life lessons learned list.

“Be Joyfully Authentic” measures 60 x 70 inches. It is pieced and quilted by machine. My friend Maxine Moore quilted it on her long arm machine.

The fabric on the back is a traditional pink fabric that picks up some of the pinks on the front of the quilt. I bound it in a pink batik.

There is a hanging sleeve on the back for easy display if you want to hang it. However this quilt is large enough to be a lap quilt if you prefer to drape it over your sofa.
A label on the back documents the quilt. I signed it on the front even though it is difficult to see.

I hope this quilt brings you joy.
